Harmony Rescue Mission Rescue-Rehab-Re-home
HHRR is located in South Central Virginia approx one hour west of Richmond. We were founded in December of 2005 with a mission of rescue and rehabilitation.
We have over the past two years helped many Dachshunds who were abandoned, abused and or unwanted. We have spent weeks to months with many of them to rehabilitate them from past abusive and/or neglect as well as medically rehabilitate them so that they may be adopted into loving homes.
In 2008 Harmony Hounds Rescue Ranch would like focus or efforts toward the medical and or behavioral rehabilitation of “special needs” Dachshunds.
What is a special needs Dachshund?
A Dachshund who is blind, deaf, compromised due to IVDD, has genetic or other defects which limit mobility and or normal function. We also accept on a limited basis Dachshunds who are behaviorally challenged and have not been successfully rehabilitated within another rescue program.
Note: Behaviorally challenged Dachshunds are only accepted by referral from an organized rescue group and only after all other methods of rehabilitation have been exhausted.

Harmony Hounds Rescue Ranch is also a member of Almost Home Dachshund Rescue Society which is a national rescue groups and non profit with a 501C3. Tax deductible donations to HHRR can be made through Almost Home Dachshunds and ear marked to HHRR in Virginia.

Often we will add some courtesy posts Dachshunds (not with Harmony) who we have become aware need homes as well. If you see a Dachshund on our available Dachshunds page and there is an e-mail address or phone number listed under the picture please contact that individual regarding the desired dog(s). If it is listed as a "courtesy post" with no e-mail address contact us for further info.
Please Note:
Harmony Dachshund Rescue does not represent these individuals and all commitments, contracts, fees and or other obligations are between the individual/rescue who has the dog(s) and the adopter. In most cases we have not met these dogs but have talked to the owners/rescues and have permission to post their dogs to encourage adoption into loving homes. We encourage you to always ask questions of the owner/rescue and find out as much information about the dog as possible before you agree to adopt.
Harmony Rescue does not agree with or promote irresponsible breeding and will only refer to owners/rescues if they have agreed to spay/neuter their Dachshunds prior to adoption or allow Harmony to assist in this process and or enforce a spay/neuter contract. If you need assistance with a low cost spay neuter program for your own Dachshund Harmony will do all we can to assist you in finding one as needed. Any dogs who are adopted through Harmony Dachshund Rescue will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption unless a Vet has stated there is a medical reason why they cannot be. (this would be a rare instance) Thank you!
